Headed For Burnout?
Experiencing any of these symptoms for extended periods of time and you may be headed for burnout. Start working on a solution and consider seeking help from a professional counselor. Some symptoms invite you to see your primary care doctor or nurse practitioner.
1. I can’t cope. I can’t concentrate. I feel helpless, hopeless, depressed. I have developed a short temper. I have general feelings of frustration and am starting to have mood swings.
2. I’m always tired.
3. I watch too much TV.
4. I’m often irritable or angry. I can’t control my temper. I am haveing increased number of arguments with family and friends,
5. My diet has deteriorated. I eat too much, or I don’t eat enough. I eat too many fats, too much salt or sugar. I have frequent indigestion and other digestive problems.
6. I have trouble sleeping. I don’t get enough sleep, or I have trouble falling asleep. I wake frequently during the night.
7. I’m smoking more, drinking more alcohol or caffeine, or using more drugs than normal.
8. I have frequent headaches, backaches, skin rashes, stomach aches. I have started to grind my teeth.
9. It seems that I never have any time for leisurely talks with my friends and family.
10. I’ve cut back on exercise. My co-ordination is deteriorating.
11. Family tensions are running higher than usual. My husband and I fight more often: I’m not interested in sex. I don’t enjoy being with my kids.
12. It seems as if I’m always sick lately. I get colds and other viral infections more often than I used to. My blood pressure in going up. I have tightness in my chest and frequent times of shallow breathing.
