Meditation For Relaxation
Meditation for relaxation is a one of the most effective technique for many people. Meditation has been a part of most cultures and religions throughout the ages and the technique lies at the heart of yoga. People can tailor their meditation practice to incorporate their personal spiritual beliefs.
Many of us have developed the skill of concentration, but few of us have the ability to slip in to inner peace at will. Meditation is an extremely valuable skill to develop as being able to calm your mind takes your mind away from immediate worries. This ability frees your unconscious to start to work on helping to solve your problems as you learn to use meditation for relaxation.
This spirituality can be expressed by a choice of mantra. The mantra can be the standard Eastern-style “Ohm” to a Christian phrase “God is love” or a simple “Let go.”
What people achieve from meditation depends on the individuals motive. Most people use meditation for relaxation. Because their are so many different ways to meditate and different reasons for all the different people that practice meditation, the words used and way of meditating differ quiet a bit.
The emphasis for using meditation for relaxation is to feel better. For some people, meditation can move into a more spiritual practice over time. Meditation has a whole range of physical and psychological benefits: breathing, heart and pulse rates slow and the brain goes into a deep relaxation. Meditation has important health benefits including decreasing anxiety, lowering blood pressure, relieving insomnia, panic, headaches, and asthma.
There are many different ways to meditate but all involve four main elements:
- being in a quiet environment,
- regulating your breath,
- becoming physically relaxed
- focusing on an object, thought , word or sound, or an activity that enables the mind to attain a state of relaxed concentration.
Tips for meditation:
1. Make a commitment to practice meditation.
2. When meditating, focus on the present; clear your mind of the past and future.
3. Make time to meditate.
4. Be still during meditation.
5. Don’t have unrealistic expectations for the immediate, because changes will occur over time.
Many people start with the desire to fix just one thing in their lives right now such as using meditation for relaxation and it may eventually change into an awareness of a spiritual nature.
Meditation can also be used to clear your mind and open to possibilities such as health, wealth and happiness as found in the Science of Abundance audio books.
